Chapter 01 • Heritage

The Legend of
52 York Way.

Standing proudly on the historic frontier between Camden and Islington, Lincoln Arms has preserved the golden era of the classic London tavern.

Origins & Architecture

A Bastion of
Victorian Hospitality.

York Way has long been one of London’s most vital arteries, connecting the historic cattle markets and Regent's Canal with the monumental Victorian railway terminals of King's Cross and St Pancras.

For well over a century, Lincoln Arms has welcomed thirsty travelers, local craftsmen, poets, and railway workers into its warm mahogany embrace. Famed for the ornate wrought-iron overhead sign that still swings proudly above our entrance, our establishment maintains its soul as an authentic, unpretentious, and deeply comfortable refuge.

"Included on CAMRA's Local Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors — an irreplaceable celebration of genuine London tavern architecture."

The Decor

The Romance of
Antique Cartography.

Walk through our doors and your gaze is immediately drawn to our extensive gallery of rare antique maps and nautical surveys.

Spanning early Victorian London parish charts, hand-engraved River Thames bathymetric soundings, and 19th-century railway surveys, each map tells a chapter of the city's unfolding drama. Paired with maritime compasses, antique clocks, and brass globes, the atmosphere feels like the private study of an eccentric Victorian explorer.

Guests spend hours tracing forgotten London alleyways and old canal branches, pint of cider in hand, nestled into the deep upholstery of our seating.
